A whole civilization has come to an abrupt stalemate because its men had no better basis of living than public opinion.

-- Too good an observation. And especially, I believe that I am contributing a lot to this stalemate. A mere self-analysis procured by the book, though in totality it didn't turn out to be a briliant entertainment.

If you are going to reserve a seat for various representatives of minorities, you could as well reserve one for the greatest minority in the world- namely , God. A seat must be reserved for Him in every council and assembly and cabinet, then we shall perhaps see things going right in the world.
